Safe Exam Browser: Privacy Statement

Safe Exam Browser (SEB): No Collection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

At Certiverse, we understand that privacy is a priority for our candidates. To ensure a secure and fair testing environment, we utilize Safe Exam Browser (SEB) for many of our exams. This article explains how SEB protects your privacy and guarantees that no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is collected or transmitted to any centralized servers.

What is Safe Exam Browser?

Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is an open-source tool designed to secure the exam environment by locking down your device during online tests. It prevents access to unauthorized websites, applications, and other functionalities while taking the exam.

No Data Collection or User Tracking

SEB does not send personal information to any centralized servers. It is not connected to any web analytics, user tracking, or clickstream analytics services. This ensures that your personal data remains private throughout your exam experience.

Log Files and Local Storage

While SEB does not collect personal data, some information related to your device (such as device type, operating system version, computer account username, local network hostname, and URLs of opened web pages) may be saved in local log files if default settings are used. These log files are stored locally on your system and are not transmitted to any centralized servers. You can manually collect these log files for debugging purposes if needed, or choose to turn off logging in SEB's settings for both Windows and Mac.

No Registration Required

SEB does not require registration or account creation. It is not connected to any cloud services or centralized servers, except for the web server specified as the "Start URL" in your exam settings.

Open-Source Transparency

SEB is open-source, which means its code can be reviewed by anyone to verify that it does not connect to centralized servers or send any user data. While SEB includes a security module to verify the integrity of the application, this module does not collect or send any personal information, and it does not access the network or the internet.

Commitment to Your Privacy

Certiverse is committed to maintaining a secure and transparent exam environment. With SEB, you can be confident that your personal information is protected, and no data is collected or transmitted without your consent.

For additional information on Safe Exam Browser’s privacy and security measures, please visit the official SEB website or contact our support team.
