Closing Applications (macOS)

Closing Applications (macOS)

Additional applications and devices are not allowed per exam rules. This article will cover how to close all running applications on your macOS device.

Close the Application through the Dock:

Sometimes applications remain open within the Mac Dock. To close the Application, right-click on the icon and choose Quit. A dot below the icon indicates a running application.

Menu Bar:

Sometimes, applications remain open within the Menu Bar. To close the application, click on the icon and choose Quit.

Activity Monitor:

You can also close applications through the Activity Monitor. The Activity Monitor can be found in the application list or by searching for it using Spotlight Search.

  • Open Activity Monitor and find the application's process name you need to close. Select the icon on the left side and close by pressing the X at the top.

  • You can Quit the app or Force Quit the app. You can try Quit first, and if it doesn't work, then Force Quit.

  • Quitting the application should close all its processes, but you should check to ensure all processes are closed. If there are more processes with the same name, repeat the process for all of them.

Last Option - Restart your computer

If none of the above options work, close the exam window, restart your computer and then return to your Certiverse exam.
